Tuesday

We have finished our study of standards 1, 2, and 19 from the information in chapter two of our book. We will have our test over the standards tomorrow. Be sure that you look over the following items:
Section 1 - Concepts of government and the documents from our English heritage.
Section 2 - 5- The First and Second continental congresses. The Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation (weaknesses), The Constitutional Convention, The Constitutional compromises, ratifying the Constitution, Federalist and anti-federalist.

Back on line

Ok here we go. I have been away form the page for a few days trying to catch up on all of the changes in our new grading system. We are still trying to iron out some of the bugs so hopefully by next week our classes will be set and there will be no more movement.

Government classes are going well. We have covered standards 1, 2,and 19. We are completing this week part "A" of standard 1 and can expect a quiz of some type by the end of the week. Please be sure that you are completing your work and studying for your quizzes and test.

Homework for tonight is questions 9-13 on the studyguide. Be sure you have the work completed when you come to class.

today we worked on our graphic organizer for chapter 2 section 1. If you were not here you should make a flowchart with the titles Magna Carta, Petition of Right, and the English Bill of Rights.

Tuesday

Today we had an introduction to our first large quiz over chapter one. This was actually more like a test with the number of questions. I am in the process of grading the papers and hope to have them for tomorrows class.

After the quiz, we worked on the chapter 2 study guide and completed the questions 1-8. Be sure to have those questions and the chapter 2 section 1 vocabulary finished for class tomorrow.

Classes Today

Today we worked on the chapter 1 study guide and definitions found in section 1. Be sure that you have a good grasp of the words politics, government, state,country, and nation. Do not forget the 4 characteristics of the state and be sure to complete the homework sheet that you were given (Locke and Hobbes).

Be sure to complete the compare and contrast for the contemporary theories.

Today, we took our pre-test, and we will grade it tomorrow. After the pre-test, we completed questions 1-5 on the Chapter 1 Study Guide. Books will be assigned in the next few days. Welcome back to school

Welcome back for another great year at LHS. Today we covered the rules and regulations for our class. Remember that all items from the Code of Conduct apply in this classroom.

We will hit the ground running tomorrow with our pre-test that will contain 50 questions on all facets of government. This is a what do you already know type test so there is no need to study or try and study.

When we have completed the pre-test, we will then go into the book and work on the study guide for chapter #1:

Chapter 1 Study Guide: PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNMENT

Keep up with all the terms in the chapter. Study the charts and read the text
1. What are the three basic kinds of powers exercised by government?

of the state.
5. Which theory on the origin of the state was most influential in the founding of
